The Rabbi’s Role in Bar/Bat Mitzvah Preparations
The rabbi will:
- meet with each family at the beginning of Bar/Bat Mitzvah training and communicate with the tutors regarding each student’s goals
- get monthly updates from the tutors on students’ progress meet with students weekly starting 8 weeks before their Bar/Bat Mitzvah dates as students prepare D’var Torah
- work individually with each family in preparation for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah
The rabbi’s role is to help students understand what it means to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah on a personal and communal level, teach mitzvot of Tallit & T’fillin, explain the student’s new role as an adult in the community, and explain expectations of the student in the shul and community.
